Glasgow Wood Recycling, the city’s only wood recycling
social enterprise, have just launched their new eco catalogue.
Packed full of reclaimed wood products including planters, water
butts and raised beds, the catalogue demonstrates how recycling and
reusing can be good for people as well as the environment.
The product range has been made possible through the hard work of
both staff and volunteers. Over twenty local people from the Glasgow
West Area have contributed their time and energy to Glasgow Wood
Recycling’s volunteer program, learning new skills such as
sanding wood, cutting wood and making products.
“People with no prior experience of wood work or recycling
can contribute to the project.” comments Peter Lavelle, Glasgow
Wood Recycling’s Project Manager
“We have a great team of folk and would encourage anyone keen
to learn new practical skills to consider volunteering with us. It
is a fantastic way to meet people and make a contribution to your
community.”
Glasgow Wood Recycling, who have had support from the social economy
team at Glasgow West Regeneration Agency, aim to become a self sustaining
enterprise and a vibrant community resource by recycling and reusing
wood. Established just over a year ago, the busy organisation provides
a wood waste collection service to businesses and homes across the
city, sells reclaimed wood and reclaimed wood products. The catalogue
promotes this fantastic work and provides inspiration to budding
gardeners and greenies.
