Kingslink Carnival

SATURDAY 30th August 2008 12noon to 4pm.
PARADE - LINCOLN AVE. FLATS TO KINGSWAY COURT
CARNIVAL - GROUNDS OF KINGSWAY COURT

The Kingslink Carnival International Festival is now in its sixth successive year. And this year a number of local groups and agencies’ workers, have been inspired to create an even finer event. Again, we intend to reflect and celebrate the varied and vibrant mix of cultures and talents which enrich Kingsway, Plean St., Kirkton, Lincoln flats and the surrounding areas.

The festival will comprise of:
1) Community Parade of local groups and people going from Lincoln Ave to Kingsway festival area.
2) Sports games, coaching and fun activities
3) Live stage: with some cool music & dance routines from all corners of the world.
4) Kids arts/crafts, games, and bouncy village – much fun!
5) Food for all tastes. Try a munch at our multicultural menu!
6) Information area featuring displays, presentations and literature from a wide range of local organisations and agencies.
7) Strathclyde Police & Community Safety mobile units
Our festival is a superb demonstration of local people working together to challenge racism, foster integration, understanding and value in all aspects of our community. A strong and happy sense of “belonging” is the most potent counter to the wholly negative myths and propaganda aimed at belittling the hope and possibilities offered by a truly multi-cultural area.
Our festival will celebrate the achievements of a varied mix of local folk, working together in pursuit of peace, understanding, health and wellbeing, for all.
Come along and join the celebration!
