What's the Buzz?

It’s all happening for businesses down at Glasgow West Regeneration
Agency and June 13 really saw things buzzing down at Next Generation
Leisure in Anniesland.
We ran an extremely exciting and successful networking
event for new businesses in the Glasgow west area, ably facilitated
by Ruth Webber with a spectacular buffet lunch provided by Next
Generation Club. As part of the discussions it has been decided
to call this event ‘The Business Buzz’ and to make
it a regular calendar event
As one client said “I really do feel indebted to the people
in Glasgow West who have helped and supported me over the last
few months. I really liked the idea of workshops, perhaps generated
from ideas from Glasgow West participants.”
The Business Buzz is aimed at new or recently started businesses
and has an informal atmosphere where people can chat with other
business owners and managers. It helps to realise you’re
not alone out there and many other people share the same challenges
and successes. There will be a range of topics and specialists
available throughout the year to chat with but ultimately we
want to make this a useful but enjoyable part of running a business
in this area.
There is no doubt that everyone who came to the recent event
really got something positive from it, with some of them buzzing
with enthusiasm. The range of businesses represented was immense
and as diverse as a face painter to a web designer or a joiner
to a photographer and a host of others, but more importantly
everyone got something out of it and really benefited from the
experience as one observed, “I noticed a couple of people
after the event exchanging ideas with each other, mainly on the
recommendation of others. There’s a great art to networking
and, of course, word of mouth and personal contact are invaluable
in any business.”
This is the launch of something new and exciting for the Glasgow
West business community and we would love you all to benefit
from this so if you have a business less than 3 years old give
Emilio Giannini a call on 0141 949 4904 and be part of the Business
Buzz in the west.
Essential Therapy from Ancient Egypt
Now available in Maryhill...
Today we are at last unfolding the final secrets of ancient Egypt, revealing ‘Aromatherapy’ to
be one of the finest ways to combat the detrimental effects of stress, restoring
the natural balance in the body and bringing tranquillity to our busy modern
lives.
The therapeutic and medicinal use of essential oils
date back to Egyptian times 3,500 BC. They were used by the kings
and queens of the day and have been used throughout the world
since that time.
Fiona McKinnon qualified as a clinical Aromatherapist in 2001.
She holds a Diploma in Aromatherapy and a National Certificate
in Anatomy and Physiology and has been administering essential
oil massage since qualifying. She recently made the decision
to develop this into a full-time occupation and broaden her client
list to include the paying public. She will operate out of Maryhill
Community Halls and can be contacted on 07957 241504.
Massage is one of the most popular types of complementary therapy
in the UK. It is an effective way of reducing tension, improving
circulation and inducing physical and emotional relaxation for
almost all of the people that use it. It is also an effective
way to relieve muscular strains and other such sporting injuries.
There are numerous different types of massage with the common
disciplines including Swedish, remedial, sports, aromatherapy
and Indian head massage. Why not book a session for yourself
or as a gift for someone else?
Fiona engaged the services of GWRA to help her develop her business
plan, shape her ideas and access grant funding. Her business
advisor Craig Sigerson worked with her through the process, refining
the final action plan to simplify the start-up process and ensure
that Fiona got off to a good start. As with all the clients who
use the start-up services of GWRA Fiona has the additional benefit
of being able to access ongoing professional business development
and aftercare support.
If you’re considering a complementary treatment or therapy
for any medical condition, always consult your doctor (GP) first.
This is to make sure it doesn’t conflict with any existing
course of treatment you may be taking, and also to check it won’t
have a negative impact on your health.
If you are resident in the northwest area of Glasgow (Townhead
to Drumchapel) you may be eligible for the start-up services
of GWRA. You can contact GWRA on 0141-949-4949 to check your
eligibility for our services.
Urban Room Style
Style doesn’t have to be expensive...

‘Urban Room Style’ provides a one-stop service for landlords, developers
and first time buyers who require their property to be fully furnished for new
tenants, to stage their property for selling or simply because they can.
Customers can expect a professional service that is value
for money, delivering a crisp, clean, contemporary package of new
furnishings, décor and wall hangings. It is a service that

and Executive packages ranging from a single roomed flat to a detached
show home. All inclusive packages range from £4K to £10K.”

Fiona approached Glasgow West Regeneration Agency for support in developing her
business ideas and together with her business advisor, Mags Watson, worked on
her business plan, looked at potential funding opportunities and ways to effectively
market her services. Fiona has now established a web presence www.urbanroomstyle.co.uk
