Glasgow YWCA is delighted to announce their success in
gaining support from Glasgow City Council Childcare strategy
fund to open afterschool care in the Anderston area. This service
will be available to children attending both Anderston and Saint
Patrick’s primary schools.
They are currently in the registration process, and
recruiting new staff. It is aimed to have the service up and
running before September 08. Meantime provision has been made
for collecting children from the area and the service will be
accommodated in a local YWCA venue.
Elina Spence, Childcare Mentor for Working for Families, of Glasgow
West Regeneration Agency, was delighted at hearing the news of
the opening of an After School Care service within the Anderston
Community. Elina said “this is a real breakthrough and
essential for local parents who have previously been restricted
regarding work and training opportunities due to the absence
of an After School Care Service in this area. I am keen to work
closely with the service providers and parents wishing to access
the service who are moving into employment or training. Funding
is also available to assist with initial childcare costs.” For
further information, on Working for Families support please call
Elina on 07852 946343.
