West Glasgow Community Health and Care Partnership (CHCP)
has announced that The Annexe Healthy Living Centre will run
the area’s Healthy Living Initiative for the next two years.
The Annexe has been selected to provide a range of services
designed to address health improvement and health inequality
issues among west Glasgow’s population. The contract requires
the Annexe to work in partnership with a variety of local agencies
and community groups and, more importantly, local people to design
and implement effective health improvement programmes on issues
such as improving nutrition, home safety, reducing alcohol consumption
and drug misuse, and promoting sexual health.
Negotiations on the details of the service level agreement between
West Glasgow CHCP and the Annexe is already underway, ahead of
an anticipated start date of September 1.
Jessica Murray, the Vice Chair of West Glasgow CHCP Committee,
welcomed the decision. She said: “The Annexe clearly demonstrated
their ability to provide a strong and flexible service that matches
the aims and priorities of the CHCP. We look forward to settling
the specific terms of the work we expect them to undertake over
the next two years and to them beginning in earnest in September.
The Healthy Living Initiative is a very important way of addressing
inequalities in health and well-being in the west of Glasgow.”
The Annexe’s Manager, Julie Fox, said that her organisation
was pleased to be awarded the contract and excited at the prospect
of delivering health improvement programmes in local communities. ‘We
look forward to engaging with people at local level, listening
to their views and ideas and involving them in the various aspects
of the work we have been commissioned to deliver.’ she
said.
