A unique partnership between the GHA, Glasgow West Regeneration
Agency, the West CHCP and the Robertson Trust has resulted in
new services being provided for vulnerable young women living
in the west and central area of Glasgow.
The programme is aimed at supporting young women who
are at risk of drug misuse, becoming socially isolated, or who
are affected by unemployment and health issues.
According to
GWRA team member Alison Lyndsay, the programme takes an innovative
approach in the way it provides support: “It is very client
centred. Once on the programme the young women design their own
course content and through working together, build their skills
and confidence. It’s an exciting project to be involved
in and referral agencies have given great feedback. The programme
offers one to one support, personal development training, life
skills, money management, sports, arts, parenting skills, healthy
living and other activities. Peer support is its key feature,
with the group meeting on a regular basis each week.”
