West Glasgow CHIPs - a healthier kind of takeaway

In August 2007, West Glasgow CHCP launched a new healthier kind of ‘take-away’ for local residents: Community Health Information Points, or CHIPs! The CHIPs are based in Health Centres, Community Centres and Voluntary Organisations throughout the area and have lots of health information booklets and leaflets you can take home. There are also posters, activities and fun competitions with great prizes like the 1-month unlimited membership to Glasgow Club given away in May (courtesy of Culture & Sport Glasgow) and two free tickets for the Grosvenor Cinema we have to give away in August!

The health topics change each month and have already included alcohol and drugs, mental health, healthy eating and young people. You can also find up-to-date information on local services and events. It’s a great way to find out facts, figures and what’s going on in your area.

If you have any suggestions about topics you would like to see included or need further information on a particular service you can contact the Health Improvement & Inequalities Team on 0141 314 6204 or at WestCHCP.Administrator@ggc.scot.nhs.uk The team can also fill you in on where to find your nearest CHIP.
