Campbell McGregor, from Glasgow and his 3 friends Scott Herne, James Sargent and Scott Davis are preparing to take on an amazing challenge - China Trek - in the celebration of Kidney Research UK’s 50th anniversary. The 10 day adventurous journey starts on 5th May 2011.

One of the most important reasons for them joining this amazing challenge is that Campbell’s close friend, Bobby Singh, is a victim of kidney disease. ‘I had always wanted to do something for charity but I used my weight as an excuse for not doing anything’ said, Campbell. ‘In November 2009 I tipped the scales at 19 and a half stones and decided that enough was enough, then registered an interest in Kidney Research UK China Trek 2011 with my 3 friends’.

Since then Campbell has lost 5 stones and now he and his friends are taking part in fundraising events to help raise vital funds to beat kidney diseases. The challenge is very much being supported by Bobby, owner of the well known Mr Singh’s restaurant in Glasgow. The boys, Scott Herne, James Sargent, Scott Davis and Campbell McGregor have pledged £30K, which is more than double the suggested sponsorship.

“These guys are loving the challenge and working so hard”, said Community Fundraising Manager Liz McGuinness. “I would love to get at least 50 people signed up, as it is the charity’s 50th anniversary next year, and what a birthday present, to give kidney patients a little hope, by people supporting Kidney Research UK and this fantastic event”.
