Beat the Habit and Save Money for Christmas

Here’s a fact: If you stop smoking now, by Christmas you could have an extra £800 in your pocket to spend (based on a 20 a day smoker). Imagine the presents this could buy: a new laptop, PS3 (Slim) Games Console and a 32” LCD Widescreen TV could all be yours for that £800.

Jamila Khatoon, CHCP Health Improvement Senior acknowledged the challenges of giving up the habit: “Many people want to quit on their own and think that accepting help is a weakness or failure on their part. But this is not the case. Nicotine is extremely addictive and it is not easy to give up without any help and support.”

The CHCP’s Smoke Free Services Team runs Support Sessions with experienced advisors. Jamila said: “The sessions give you the chance to meet others who are also giving up smoking, so there’s no reason to feel anxious. Or, if you would prefer to speak to an advisor before deciding, come along to our new drop-in facility at the William Street Clinic, 120 William Street Glasgow every Tuesday from 11am-midday.”

Research shows that by attending the Support Service and using prescribed stop-smoking medication, smokers are four times more likely to quit than by going it alone. Taking the first step to getting help is often the hardest part. So take up the offer of support. Call one of our advisors Karen, Mima or Evelyn on 0141 314 6224 and do the best thing you can for your health and wealth.

Support Sessions are run across West Glasgow at the times and places below and are free of charge. We can also provide interpreters for those whose first language is not English.
