Changing Habits: Every Opinion Counts
Changing Habits: Every Opinion Counts
The issue of addiction was a local priority identified through the DRUMCOG Community Conference, Respect Drumchapel, held in October 2007. DRUMCOG went on to secure funding from the Scottish Government Wider Role fund for an initiative called Changing Habits, supported by LIFE Moves. Through the activity of local volunteers, Changing Habits aims to find out what issues people have with others’ addiction, the results of which will inform training, information and a signposting campaign. Survey forms have been distributed around Drumchapel and there are lots of places where you can return completed forms to:
• All Drumchapel Housing Offices
• Citizens Advice Bureau
• COPE
• Donald Dewar Centre
• Summerhill Road and Spey Road Post Offices
• The Open Gate
• The Volunteer Centre
• Somerfield
• Stonedyke Neighbourhood Centre
• Victim Support
The campaign will be launched later this summer and there will be local events and discussion groups. We need to know what your issues are so we can try and begin to address them. The focus groups highlighted that people do think other people’s addiction is an issue, and we don’t just mean drugs and alcohol; there are many other addictions which can have an impact on people’s lives and the communities we live in. Please let them know your thoughts as every opinion does count. The survey can also be downloaded from www.cope-scotland.org.uk where you can get more information on Changing Habits.
