Editor’s Column
Welcome to the 25th edition of the Glasgow News. Rather than make a big song and dance in way of recognition for this notable landmark, we have kept our celebrations low key, preferring to put our efforts into bringing you another crammed issue.
We have been reaching out across all communities in the West and Central areas of the City to bring the stories that matter to you; from sporting achievements to future events, we have it covered.
The CPP Chairs have an introduction for you on page 3 and I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome the leader of the council, Bailie Gordon Matheson, to the Glasgow News with his new leader’s column on page 7.
Our entertainment section features Dame Vera Lynn who is promoting the Dance Day UK which hopes to raise money for a number of worthwhile charities including the Royal British Legion and Forces Children’s Trust. The generosity of Glaswegians is notable in this edition with thousands of pounds being raised for a variety of charities by cycling, zip sliding or walking the west highland way. Not to be outdone,
we also have a few local lads heading to China to raise money for Kidney Research UK.
There are 2 quizzes for you to enter, firstly for all you brides to be there are tickets to the upcoming Wedding Show at the SECC to be won and secondly, following record numbers of entries last issue for the Ibrox book, we have an opportunity for the other half of the Old-Firm to get their hands on their new book which isn’t even in the shops yet.
Finally, as Glasgow News looks forward to Glasgow 2014, our sports section brings you updates on the sports stars for 4 years time as the countdown begins and the city prepares for what will be a historical event.
You can now also follow us on Facebook. www.facebook.com/GlasgowNews for regular updates on events, sports and photos from stories in your area.
