Getting Creative: The West Arts Network
Getting Creative: The West Arts Network

Music is a universal language, and thanks to the new West Arts Network more people have access to it.
The Network was formed last autumn by Glasgow Life (Culture and Sport Glasgow) to bring together more than 30 arts organisations to create opportunities for communities across the West to participate in arts and cultural activities.
To get things off to a flying start, the West Local Community Planning Partnership awarded the Network £20,000 to create a programme which would give local residents the chance to experience a variety of different arts initiatives.
As well as workshops for a wide range of people, there were showcase events and art form exchanges between organisations to provide different experiences for participants.
Benefits for those involved in the workshops has been an increase in their confidence and self-esteem as well as fostering a greater sense of belonging to communities.
The large number of people who attended performances proves that people are keen to go to local arts events and non arts based organisations have demonstrated their willingness to offer new experiences to their clients and service users.
To give more people the chance to take part in arts and cultural activities, the Network is getting ready to launch the new programme this Autumn, which promises to be every bit as vibrant and dazzling as the last one.
Music and dance, drama, comedy workshops, creative writing and film making are just some of the activities to experience across the west of Glasgow.
