Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) staff recently welcomed the first tenants and factored homeowners to their new facility at 173 Trongate. The new shop replaces the old GHA reception area and is designed to be brighter, more accessible and more welcoming. Staff will deal with a range of tenants’ and homeowners’ inquiries such as rent and bill payments.

Mr Mike Delgianni, 43, was one of the first customers. He said: “I knew the shop was opening today. I really like it. I probably won’t notice everything on offer until my second or third visits. It’s also really good that you can come in off the street.”

As well as a new reception area there are private booths where tenants and owners can speak to staff in private. There’s also a comfortable waiting area, plasma screens displaying videos about GHA services, a loop system for the hard of hearing and an information wall full of handy leaflets about GHA services.

The shop has ground floor level access and is customer friendly to help the elderly, the disabled and parents with prams. It is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

GHA Chair Sandra Forsythe said: “I’m sure the tenants and owners will love the new shop. It’s bright, it’s modern and it’s airy and spacious. “Tenants and owners told us they wanted better access for wheelchairs and prams and the new shop delivers this and much more.”
