Scottish International Piano Competition
Scottish International Piano Competition
In September, the ninth triennial Scottish International Piano Competition (SIPC) will take place in Glasgow across 11 days starting on 8th.
The competition, which is held every three years, will see the internationally revered Brodsky Quartet accompany the three finalists at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. The final three will be picked from a truly international range of competitors, as 18 countries will be represented across all the main continents.
Baillie Liz Cameron, chair of the SIPC, said: “The chamber music element is a first for the SIPC and we hope that it will generate a richer musical experience. I am delighted that the Brodsky Quartet is part of the competition. I look forward to it.”
The BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra will accompany the concerto final at the City Halls on 19th September, while the day before Juror Idil Biret will also give a celebrity recital devoted to Frederic Chopin, this year’s anniversary composer.
