Our recent June meeting covering the topic Getting Your Business in the Press was successful and well received by those in attendance. The speaker for the evening, Paul Murricane, who founded Axis Media Group had plenty of advice to offer on the night. Following a 20 year career in television and radio journalism as a local and network TV reporter, business correspondent and network documentary producer for Dispatches and Equinox on Channel 4, he was well received by those in attendance.
Also sharing his knowledge on the evening was entrepreneur Jonathan Engels of Pincer Vodka. His idea of launching a new vodka brand began in 2004 and the first bottle rolled off the production line in October 2008, competing against other well known brands. His vodka is now sold across the world and drunk by the rich and famous. He has always believed that by being different from the rest he would get the media coverage that he needed and it certainly has as Pincer Vodka have enjoyed excellent coverage in high profile newspapers and magazines since it was launched.
Our next event is on Tuesday 24th August with the topic Branding. An effective brand strategy gives you a major edge in increasingly competitive markets. But what exactly does “branding” mean? Simply put, your brand is your promise to your customer. It tells them what they can expect from your products and services, and importantly it differentiates you from your competitors. Your brand is derived from who you are, who you want to be and who people perceive you to be. Our expert speaker is Scott Simpson from Voltage and we are delighted to announce that Boyd Tunnock of Tunnocks will also be joining us. Tunnocks are celebrating 120 years in business and this promises to be an excellent event.
