Got anything to say?

Dear Editor

I hope you can help me - I am looking for photographs of the Glenartney from WW1, built by C.Connell & Co, Glasgow in 1911, owned by Caledonia S.S Co Ltd., sunk 18/3/1915 near the Sovereign Lighthouse.

I have contacted Lloyds / National Maritime Museum and Glasgow archives but to no avail - the official company photographs were lost to fire - I’m guessing my last hope is local papers/photographers/council shots from launch.

If anyone knows of any local photography companies / family businesses that are still going strong, private collections- please let me know!

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Dear Editor

I love reading your newspaper. I was born in Glasgow in the year 1932 ...lived in the town of Anderston, on William street. Attended Kent Road School and Woodside Senior Secondary ... walked through Kelvingrove Park to get there.

Was pleasantly surprised that Speedway is still alive and well ...use to follow The Glasgow Tigers ... one of the stars was Junior Bainbridge, loved that sport. Think it was run at White City in Govan.

I now live in South Carolina on Saint Helena Island ... emigrated to the USA in 1967 with my wife and 2 children and settled in Rochester New York. Have a lot of happy memories of my life living in Anderston.

I could go on and on, but think I will stop for now. For am no awa tae bide awa ...Cheerio for now.

Dear Editor

We are emailing you on behalf of the Glasgow Women’s Library regarding an exciting new project that is currently in development. The Library, in association with students from Glasgow University, is looking to record the experiences of women living in Glasgow and uncover the hidden history of their lives.

We believe that raising awareness of the Library and the work it carries out would benefit women from all across Glasgow and hope that you can help us provide that platform for us to do this. For more information on the Library please refer to the website at www.womenslibrary.org.uk

We are looking for women of all ages and all backgrounds to tell their stories which is why we feel the Glasgow News is the best medium of communication to reach such women.
Any assistance your readers could provide for us would be greatly appreciated.

Thanking you in anticipation,
